Dear friends of St. Lucy’s, We made it through our very first Holy Week, and it was so profoundly good. We started on Thursday evening at Tommy & Lizzie’s house for foot washing on their deck with views of Bay, which led into a Eucharist meal together inside and was followed by Jenn, Matt, and Megan singing some Taize chant and a choral piece while we stripped the altar and extinguished the light, launching us into Good Friday. On Friday we gathered again for a spare, reflective service at the church––I preached, Jenn & Megan sang hauntingly and beautifully (never mind my child’s running in the background to that audio), and I jumped on the piano to close the night. Saturday evening we spread out between Grace Cathedral, St. Paul’s, and All Souls to attend vigils around the bay, and then finally descended on Snow Park on Easter morning for some singing, prayers, and an epic brunch with an egg hunt (pictures below). It was a beautiful week and I felt so much gratitude to live in and among this story of life and death with you all. And, now we’re in the season of Easter, and life keeps on in spite of so much death around us. Next weekend, April 24-26 we’ll have our first church retreat, up at St. Dorothy’s Rest in the Occidental area. It’s a weekend to play, rest, retreat, and be together as we continue to live into this Christian story. If you’d like to attend, you can find more information and register using this link. We won’t have a service that evening (on the 26th) but if you want to take a day trip up to St. Dorothy’s Sunday morning and join us for church in the morning and then lunch, please do!
